Opihi Shells, Granulated "Bumpy" Cowrie & Sunrise Shell Lei Necklace

Ceremonial Lei for those very special occasions, such as wedding, anniversary, baby luau, graduation or birthday. This Lei is created with the Opihi Shell strung in graduated sizes, and is accented with two large granulated "Bumpy" Cowries. An extra large green and pink Hawaiian Sunrise Shell pendant is adorned with a beautiful cluster of white Coral. The significance of the Opihi in traditional Hawaiian celebrations is a long time treasured custom and is so meaningful due to the difficulty with which the Opihi is collected, many times resulting in the death of the "Opihi Picker" even now in modern times.

The extra large Sunrise Shell is 1 1/4 inches in size. This Lei is 19 inches in length and is suitable for a man or woman. A sterling silver Bali style hook clasp set against a one inch strand of North Shore Puka Shells finishes this fine jewelry piece.
